Franz Kafka

These Few lines from the mouth of the dying hunger artist are one of my favorite lines from the story “Hunger Artist” by Kafka.

“because I couldn’t find a food which I enjoyed. If had found that, believe me, I would not have made a spectacle of myself and would have eaten to my heart’s content, like you and everyone else.”

“One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug”.

The Kafkaesque has affected me deeply. I started writing like Kafka, and most of my stories carried an absurd ending just as his works. Though I haven’t had a childhood like his, still I related to him on different levels altogether as said earlier. I wrote a piece just like “Before the Law”, where the bank doesn’t let a man deposit his money and makes the man move in a loop from one place to another. When I myself read that story, I realized how much of an influence Kafka has on me. Now that I have Started looking for my own voice, I’m becoming aware that the phase of Kafka’s influence was a learning experience. Kafka still inspires me the most. Almost all his work is uploaded online. You can discover him here.
