Asur: An Ace In The Hole From VOOT

From Munna’s Circuit to Gopal’s Madhav, Arshad Warsi has barely ever disappointed us. He has always been that one underrated actor that deserves much more and we sincerely hope he gets there, given his stupendous comic timing. But, just comedy all the time isn’t the answer.

With his recent web series debut Asur, he has proved that Arshad can do justice to a dark role as well. The series stars 2 main heroes Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti (Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Du fame) who are forensic scientists that go from being hunted to hunting the protagonist who is by his behest known yet unknown to them. A man who they wrong as a child and he then, later on, become an entire cult/organisation that is accountable for various serial killings happening all across the nation.

A weird but effective mixture of Hindu mythology and forensic science with good old fashioned detective police work is what makes this series beautiful. Like all series nowadays, this too ends at a cliffhanger that has us waiting for Season 2 quite desperately. Poor cinematography does make the entire taste a little sour but the plot compensates for it quite well enough.

Overall, it is a watch well worth the while and quite impacting as well. The 9 out of 10 ratings on IMDB is well justified as per the capabilities of the show.
